Olivia Swain is a young Soprano who is is currently commencing her second year of study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in a Bachelor of Music (Performance) under the guidance of Ms Maree Ryan AM.
Olivia’s passion for singing was initially fostered by a strong association with choral singing, joining the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir at age 9. From there on she performed regularly with the choir at numerous religious-based events, such as World Youth Day in 2008 where she was given the opportunity to sing for Pope Benedict XVI. Olivia was also heavily involved with CaSPA (Catholic Schools Performing Arts Sydney) after winning a competition at age 11 to take part in a private masterclass at The McDonald College Performing Arts School.
Olivia moved to Bowral in the Southern Highlands at the age of 16, where she continued her singing studies under the direction of Ms Gail Bouletare and Ms Trudee Green. She became involved in the casts/chorus’ of various school musicals, such as Disco Inferno, and Peter Allen's The Boy From Oz, where she played the role of Shena, Peter Allen’s backup singer and dancer. Olivia began her classical training in 2014 out of curiosity for the genre, from which she discovered her passion for Opera.
Olivia then relocated back to Sydney in 2016, beginning a Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) at The Australian Institute of Music (AIM), studying with renowned Armenian Soprano, Arax Mansourian. Olivia’s most recent production involvement was AIM’s performance of Vincencio Bellini’s La Sonnambula, where she was involved in the chorus and undertook solo’s and duets.
Olivia transferred to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2017 to further continue her musical education.
