Ian completed his Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance) at the Australian Institute of Music in 2012. He studied under the guidance of renowned international soprano, Arax Mansourian. In 2013, Ian completed his Graduate Diploma of Music, and was acting choral director of AIM’s production of Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen. In 2014, Ian completed his Masters of Music. He also has been involved with many St Andrews Cathedral and Art Gallery of NSW concerts.
Ian's performance credits include Pappageno in “The Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (2011), Malvolio in William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” (2011), Mendel in Artes Christi’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof”, Belcore in Gaetano Donizetti’s “Elisir d’Amore”, Fred Graham/Petrrucchio in Cole Porter’s “Kiss me Kate” (2016), King Ui in a new Tahitian language opera “Ui nō Fa’aoe” by Geoffroy Colsen and Father Salvi in a new musical by Allan McFadden based on José Rizal’s famous Phillipino novel “Noli mi Tangere” . Ian has also been involved with the 2015 summer program Opera Winter, which was organized by Simon Kenway and Wendy Dixon.
Ian is one of Operantics' founding members, having performed the role of Don Alfonso in Operantics’ production of “Cosi fan tutte” (2015). Ian has also performed the role of Ben in Gian Carl Menotti's “The Telephone” (2016), and Sir Thomas Bertram in Jonathan Dove’s “Mansfield Park” for Operantics. Ian made his directorial debut with Operantics new production of Vincenzo Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” (2016). Ian recently directed, designed and wrote an English adaptation of the original German libretto to Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” for Operantics (April 2017).
